Guru Pur(rrr)nima – Full Moon Contentment

Today is Guru Purnima – the full moon to the Guru – our teacher of teachers.  And I’m having the loveliest day, week, life – sweet contentment.  I am content in the fact that there’s nothing really permanent in this world except LOVE.  Of the limitless, undying variety.

On this path of illumination, I never sought to find a Guru, nor did I even seek out Yoga.

When I look back at the journey I’ve been having, when I found Guru – or he found me, or reminded me of some teachings that were so familiar, it was like I got struck on the head with a lightning bolt, and it was really more of a SURPRISE!

Baba Bhagavan Das Bodhisattva – Guru’s Guru

Yoga was introduced to me on a mountain top in Colorado by a post doc student at the University of Colorado in Boulder.  He just thought it might be keen to strike some yoga poses on the mountains we climbed to figure out Nature’s ridiculously powerful ways of keeping Herself intact, ahem, thank you very much.

And from the time I got struck on the head with Guruji’s Nadam at Ananda Ashram in 2001 until today, the relationship to the Guru has been this:  “All I have, and more, you can achieve, if only you practice.” (SUPREME BLISS) And what exactly would Guruji like me to practice?  I can hear his voice, sonorous, deep, and filled with loving-kind mischief.

“Drop all your nonsense.”

He would like me to practice dropping all my nonsense.

And then we laugh out loud!

Happy Guru Purnima to us all!

Om shantih om,

Sumukhi
