Paschimottanasana – Seated forward Bend

Zoe.PSeated Forward Bend – Paschimottanasana creates strength through the lower back and spine.  It lengthens the torso, provides space in the lower back – especially for many of us who sit in Western chairs all day long, unconsciously compressing the lower back. From an energetic standpoint, it creates a seal (mudra) in the body of protection. The legs on the floor feel grounded and stable.  The hands on the shins or toes allow for a circulation of prana (lifeforce) between the upper body and the lower body.
